Michigan State Lawmakers Endorse Jocelyn Benson for Governor

On the heels of Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s gubernatorial kick-off, Democratic state lawmakers endorsed Secretary Benson for Governor.

Her endorsers include Democratic members of the legislature from across Michigan.

“I am incredibly honored to have the trust and support of Michiganders across our state on Day One of this campaign for Governor,” said Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. “I’m taking on this fight to make Michigan the best place to be a kid, raise a kid, and call home. These lawmakers know it’s time for a more accountable and transparent government that will come together to deliver affordable housing, innovative and people-driven economic opportunity, and continue to protect our freedoms and rights. That’s what I will do as Governor.”

“Michiganders deserve a Governor who always has our backs, who sides with the little guy over the powerful, and who doesn’t back down from necessary fights. That’s why I am proud to endorse Jocelyn Benson for Governor,” said State Rep. Betsy Coffia. “For me, this is personal. I grew up in a rural northern Michigan working class home where we worked hard but struggled to access healthcare and other basics. I’m for Jocelyn because she’s proven to me that she’s a leader who will fight for families like mine to thrive. This is a critical time for Michigan. We need a leader who will fight for Michiganders against any opponent – from corporate billions to bad actors in Washington. Jocelyn Benson is that leader.”

“It’s my honor to endorse Secretary Benson to be the next Governor of Michigan. She has all of the attributes that a great Governor needs: toughness, bravery, and smarts,” said State Rep. Phil Skaggs. “As a state legislator, I’ve worked with her on transparency issues, and I know firsthand that she is prepared to take on the biggest challenges working families in Michigan are facing.”

“I’m excited to see my friend Jocelyn Benson running for Governor of Michigan! She has spent her life working to make sure every voice is heard and that the government works for everyone,” said State Rep. Jason Morgan. “I’m proud to endorse her to lead our great state. As someone who had the honor of working for her, I’ve seen her work through every part of the Department of State to make government work better while defending our democracy from unprecedented attacks and working to shine a bright light on dark money in politics. She is tough, hardworking, passionate, and cares about making life better for the working class in Michigan.”
