Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Governor
Today, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy endorsed Jocelyn Benson for Governor of Michigan.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the support of Prosecutor Worthy in this campaign,” said Jocelyn Benson. “She is the epitome of legal courage and integrity when it comes to standing up for what’s right and making sure the people of Wayne County are safe and protected. I’ve had the honor of knowing and working with her for years and look forward to continuing our partnership when I become governor to ensure everyone in Michigan’s can have the economic freedom to thrive and their rights are protected.”
“I’m proud to endorse Jocelyn Benson to be the next Governor of Michigan. Jocelyn has the experience, backbone, and moral courage we need at this moment. She came to Detroit to make a difference as a civil rights advocate clerking for Judge Damon Keith, then transformed Wayne State Law School, leading the school from the bottom tier to the top 50. Michiganders need a governor who will be a true partner to the people,” said Prosecutor Worthy. “We’ve seen what happens when leaders prioritize political survival or corporate interests over community needs. Jocelyn won’t play it safe. She’ll go toe-to-toe with bullies who threaten our hard earned rights and stand up for working families in Wayne County and across Michigan. Her vision puts people first, especially those who’ve been ignored or left behind for too long. Jocelyn has what it takes to win, and more importantly, she has what it takes to govern with moral courage and integrity.”
Kym Worthy is the first Black woman to hold the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office. Worthy has shown political courage and integrity throughout her career and looks forward to working with Jocelyn Benson when she is elected governor.
Worthy’s endorsement joins 17 lawmakers, including Detroit State Rep. Tonya Meyers Phillips, UFCW Local 876, and national organizations including EMILYs List and End Citizens United.
