Benson for Governor Announces Record-Breaking $4.7 Million   Haul Since Launch

Benson raised $1.2 million since July, maintains nearly $3 million cash on hand

Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson reports another historic haul of $1.2 million raised this period, bringing her total fundraising to over $4.7 million since launching her campaign – more than any other Democratic candidate in an open seat at this point in the cycle. With over 35,000 donations, 94% of them $100 or less, and no corporate PAC money, Benson’s campaign reflects the most grassroots momentum of anyone in the race.

“Jocelyn Benson has built her campaign with the steadfast support of teachers, nurses, service workers, and many others who are tired of politicians ignoring the most pressing issues facing working families,” said Benson Campaign Manager Nikki Goldschein. “Michiganders want a leader who can fix broken systems and lower the cost of living—and that is Jocelyn Benson. She is the only person running for governor with a proven record of making government work for the people – cutting wait times to 20 minutes at the Secretary of State offices, bringing mobile offices straight to the people, and protecting the security of our elections. This million-dollar haul from thousands of supporters across Michigan proves that Michiganders are ready for Jocelyn Benson to be the next governor.”

The fundraising announcement follows new polling from Impact Research showing Benson with a commanding 39-point lead in the Democratic primary. Every poll released this year has shown her defeating both corporate-backed candidates in November matchups.

Since July, Benson has earned endorsements from the Michigan Laborers (LiUNA) and a majority of Teamsters locals across the state, joining 20 state lawmakers,  seven mayors—including those from Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, and Highland Park— and organizations including UFCW Locals 951 and 876, EMILYs List, and End Citizens United.

With nearly $3 million cash on hand and growing momentum, Benson has solidified her place as the Democratic nominee with the best shot of winning the November general election.
